Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: April 2026

Our Commitment to Inclusivity and Access

At SmarterTariff, we believe that digital access is a fundamental right. As a company that builds tools to audit checkout accessibility and supply chain compliance, we hold ourselves to the highest standard. Our core mission is rooted in transparency, equity, and sustainable development. We are actively committed to ensuring our digital presence is accessible, inclusive, and user-friendly for everyone, including individuals with disabilities.

We perform weekly WCAG scans on our own properties using our SmarterTariff Checkout Audit tool, and we continuously monitor and remediate any accessibility barriers as part of our ongoing development lifecycle.

Conformance Status

We are continuously improving our platform to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines, set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide array of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Our current conformance status is partially conformant— we meet many WCAG 2.2 AA criteria and are actively working to address remaining gaps. Pages are audited and updated on an ongoing basis.

Accessibility Features

We have integrated accessibility into our product development and design lifecycle. Current features supporting an inclusive experience include:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements, forms, and core functionalities are navigable using a standard keyboard, ensuring usability for those who cannot use a mouse.
  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Our site uses semantic HTML and ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes to provide clear context, labels, and roles for users relying on assistive screen reader technologies.
  • Color and Contrast: We enforce high color contrast ratios for text and interactive elements to assist users with low vision or color vision deficiencies. Minimum text size is 11px across the entire platform.
  • Responsive Design: The interface dynamically scales and reflows across devices, supporting zooming up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Clear Typography: We use legible fonts (Georgia serif for headings, system sans-serif for body), appropriate line spacing, and clear heading hierarchies to support cognitive accessibility.
  • Focus Indicators: All interactive elements display visible focus rings using focus-visible styling, ensuring keyboard users can track their position on the page.
  • Cookie Consent: Our GDPR/CCPA consent banner is keyboard-navigable and does not load third-party scripts until consent is granted.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is not a one-time checklist; it is an ongoing practice. As a SaaS platform, we ship iterative updates regularly, including context-aware AI advisors and enhanced scan result layouts — all designed with accessibility in mind from day one.

Subscribers receive these improvements automatically as part of their plan. New features, including our upcoming Enterprise plan, undergo accessibility review before shipping.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas of the site may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Audit result visualizations— Some chart and score components may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We provide text-based alternatives where possible.
  • Third-party embedded content— Content from Stripe (payment forms), Mapbox (maps), and other third-party providers may have their own accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
  • Exported reports— HTML reports opened in new tabs may not preserve all accessibility features of the original dashboard.

Compatibility

smartertariff.com is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation

The site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge browsers.

European Accessibility Act (EAA)

We recognize the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882) and its transposition into member state laws requiring digital products and services to meet accessibility standards by June 28, 2025. Our platform is designed to help businesses understand and prepare for these requirements. For more information, see our EAA Compliance Statement.
