European Accessibility Act (EAA) Transparency Statement
Effective Date: March 2026
FutureScan is committed to facilitating digital inclusion and helping organizations prepare for the enforcement of the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882), which took effect on June 28, 2025.
Our Mission
Our tools are designed to identify compliance gaps in critical user flows, such as checkout processes and e-commerce transactions, which are primary targets of the EAA’s requirements for digital products and services.
Methodology
We evaluate web properties against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, which serves as the technical baseline for EAA compliance. Our assessment combines AI-powered visual analysis (Anthropic’s Claude) with automated programmatic scanning to detect barriers such as missing ARIA labels, insufficient color contrast, and keyboard navigation traps.
UN SDG Alignment
Our EAA compliance analysis directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
- SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) — Removing digital barriers ensures people with disabilities have equal access to online products and services, directly advancing the goal of reducing inequality within and among countries.
- SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) — Accessible digital commerce platforms enable broader economic participation, supporting inclusive economic growth.
- SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) — Accessible digital infrastructure is resilient infrastructure, building inclusive foundations for innovation.
Each audit report includes an SDG Impact Assessment that maps your specific accessibility findings to relevant SDG targets.
Limitations of Automated Testing
While our platform provides a robust preliminary assessment of your digital surface area, automated tools can only detect approximately 30-40% of all potential accessibility barriers. Passing a FutureScan automated scan does not constitute legal certification of EAA compliance. We strongly recommend supplementing our reports with manual testing conducted by accessibility experts and users with disabilities.
CSRD Reporting
Digital accessibility is a reportable metric under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Our platform maps accessibility findings to the ESRS S1 (Own Workforce) and S2 (Consumers and End-Users) standards, helping organizations prepare for mandatory sustainability disclosures.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
We continually refine our heuristics and scanning engines to adapt to evolving WCAG standards and judicial interpretations of the EAA. If you encounter any barriers while using our own platform, please contact our support team immediately so we can remediate the issue.
